David discovered his passion for kinesiology/exercise science, fitness, and nutrition when he was a student at the University of California - Davis where he took up an Interval Weightlifting/Abs & Back Conditioning physical education course taught by an instructor who was an International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) Professional Female Bodybuilder at the Univerisity of California - Davis.
David decided to return to Santa Rosa Junior College to complete various courses in Kinesiology and he completed an internship with the Santa Rosa Junior College Adapted Physical Education working with students with various physical challenges ranging from spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, strokes, amputated limbs, and various neurological disorders. David also acquired various volunteer/internship experiences at local physical therapy clinics, the Adaptive Training Foundation in Dallas, Texas, a non-profit organization that provides access and inclusion to individuals living with physical or traumatic impairments by empowering them through exercise and community, and a local activity-based therapy rehabilitation center for paralysis recovery, where he had the opportunity to work with individuals with spinal cord injuries and various neurological disorders utilizing various modalities such as weight-bearing exercises and developmental movement patterns to work on improving the individual's abilities, balance, and coordination to achieve a successful outcome to in order regain their independence. These experiences solidified his decision to become a personal trainer and he has worked with a diverse clientele with various ailments, comorbidities, and various physical challenges. In addition to working as a personal trainer, David has previously worked as a Physical Therapy Aide at a local outpatient physical therapy clinic and skilled nursing facility which solidified the decision to further pursue his education and goal of becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
David specializes in general strength, muscular hypertrophy, and weight loss through strength training and sustainable nutritional strategies. He creates an individualized exercise protocol according to each client's needs and capabilities while continuously increasing the challenge level to help the client progress. He has truly developed a passion for serving others, making a difference, and impacting other people's lives through living an active, healthy, and pain-free lifestyle.
When David is not training, he enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, reading, Muay Thai kickboxing, boxing, spending time with his friends and family, and watching the Las Vegas Raiders on Sundays during the NFL season.
